Housing Association, People & Engagement Strategy

The Client & Their Needs

The Client, a Scottish Housing Association, having recently completed their new corporate strategy, were looking to develop a People and Engagement strategy to support the Corporate Strategy vision. This included gathering the data and insights to inform the strategy, consulting with relevant Stakeholders then drafting the strategy and finally creating the change management plan to support success.
The client wanted to ensure employee views were considered and assigning an impartial external consultant ensured a non-biased approach.
McKinney HR were the successful bidder for this project.

Organisational Design - Housing Association


As a starting point our McKinney HR Associate worked with the client project team to undertake a knowledge capture exercise to understand the context, internal work environment and external factors that would inform key strategic themes.

A collaborative approach was taken with employee involvement to co-create the strategy. Insights and views were gathered through focus groups to identify strategic priorities.


All data collated from the knowledge capture and focus groups was analysed by our Associate and a short report provided to the client for consideration.

A draft strategy and supporting action plan were created based on the collated data and feedback from all stakeholders.


The draft documents were presented to the Executive Leadership Team and will ultimately be submitted to Board for review prior to implementation.

McKinney HR continue to work with this client and the Associate can apply the understanding of the client culture gained from this project to follow-up projects, benefiting the client with ensuring solutions and recommendations are fit for purpose and building on the positive working relationship already established.
