CEO Executive Coaching
Large Charitable Organisation
The Client & Their Needs
The client is a large charitable organisation.
They described their CEO as having an impeccable professional background and work history with well-developed strengths.
However, they felt the relationship with the board a little fragmented and were worried about longevity. They therefore wanted to explore Executive Coaching to commit and invest in the ongoing development of their CEO – and hopefully repair any relationship concerns along the way.
The client agreed to 6 x executive coaching sessions over a 6-month period.
Actions
The McKinney HR Executive Coach met the CEO or “Coachee” on an informal basis at a neutral location for coffee and to discuss their hopes and fears for the coaching sessions.
An agreed schedule was put together that included an initial Meeting with the client, Coachee and McKinney HR Executive Coach. This clarified the objectives of coaching and ensured that there was a shared understanding and agreement of objectives.
Deliverables
The first 3 sessions were 2-hour slots with the final 3 sessions reduced to 1-hour slots.
The client, the Coachee and the McKinney HR Executive Coach communicated regularly with regards to progress and worked on real time feedback.
As a result, the Coachee was very open to exploring “weaknesses” and what they could do to improve their overall effectiveness.
This also included an emphasis on having the right relationship with the Board and meeting their needs too.
Outcomes
The client moved from a fear of losing their CEO to a tighter relationship and mutual understanding of their strengths.
The McKinney HR Executive Coach reported that the Coachee was a pleasure to work with and felt they left them with a great sense of their role as leader/CEO.
